Branden Leslie is the Manager of Policy and Government Relations for the Grain Growers of Canada (GGC), which represents 65,000 grain, pulse and oilseed farmers through 14 national, provincial and regional member organizations across Canada. Branden leads policy position development and advocacy at the federal level, focusing on advancing the needs of growers in key areas such as the environment, trade, transportation and innovation.
Branden was born and raised on a grain farm just south of Portage la Prairie, MB. After attending Brandon University studying Business Administration, he moved to Ottawa to work in politics while graduating from Carleton University. After nearly 10 years as a political staffer, working for several Members of Parliament, the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, and managing federal election campaigns, Branden sought to return to his roots and join the agricultural policy and advocacy space with GGC in early 2020.
Branden is currently leading GGC’s Road to 2050 climate solutions initiative, which will propose a path forward that focuses on innovation, research and beneficial management practices that will boost productivity while continuing to enhance soil quality, improving the carbon sequestration potential of crop land, and reduce emissions.
