Kim MoffatKim grew up on a small mixed farm in Western Manitoba. Trained as a Psychiatric Nurse, she has been a counsellor for over 30 years. For the last 22 years, Kim has specialized in the area of Agricultural Mental Health. Having worked for the Manitoba Farm, Rural and Northern Support Services (a crisis and support line), she was aware of an existing gap in services for farmers. Farmers were requesting in-person counselling by people who understood their way of life, and the many challenges they face. In 2021, Kim and a colleague co-founded the Manitoba Farmer Wellness Program. Kim also facilitates the University of Guelph mental health workshops called ‘In the Know.’ This program provides awareness and information about mental health and mental illness to farmers and industry people. She has delivered over forty half-day workshops across Canada. Kim owns and operates her own private counselling business, prioritizing farm and rural people from her home in Strathclair Manitoba. |
